The Elite Offshore Helideck Team Member Training is designated for personnel working offshore or involved in diving. By the end of this course, it is expected that the delegate should be in a position to satisfactorily manage a helideck and handle emergency situations concerning helicopters offshore.

Requirements
  • Demonstrate competence in helideck firefighting and emergency response during practical exercises.
  • Pass knowledge assessments covering safety, communication, and helideck operations.
  • Actively participate in all training sessions and team exercises.
  • Follow safety protocols throughout the course.
  • Complete the required training hours as specified by the provider.
Outcomes
  • 1. Define the key roles and responsibilities of the OEHTM.
  • 2. State the main elements of the helideck emergency response plan.
  • 3. Identify the types of potential offshore helideck emergencies.
  • 4. Outline the general firefighting safety goals and objectives.
  • 5. Explain the purpose of typical helideck emergency systems and controls.
  • 6. Describe the main differences between helideck emergency responses on a main fixed or floating installation and a normally unattended installation (NUI).
  • 7. Communicate effectively with the HLO and team members.
  • 8. Respond appropriately to HLO directions during emergencies.
  • 9. Under the HLO's direction, approach the incident area in a controlled manner, continually assessing how changes in the emergency could impact the safety of other OEHTM members.
  • 10. Conduct BA operations in accordance with HLO directions and safe practices.
  • 11. Perform firefighting operations effectively using fixed and mobile equipment.
  • 12. Update the HLO on progress against the plan at appropriate intervals.
  • 13. Under the HLO's direction, respond to non-fire helideck emergencies.
  • 14. Conduct effective search and rescue operations for missing persons and casualties during emergencies.
  • 15. Use correct casualty handling techniques and collaborate with the ER backup team when required.
  • 16. Report to the HLO any human factors that may affect individual or team performance during the emergency (Team Learning Objective).
