Personal Survival Techniques (PST) is value added course drafted under IMO guidelines. It is designed to equip non-seafarers and offshore personnel with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment. Conducted in accordance with IMO Model Course 1.19 and STCW Regulation VI/1 (Section A-VI/1-1), the training covers donning lifejackets and immersion suits, safe entry into water, actions during rescue, use of liferafts, survival equipment, and signaling devices. Participants learn how to stay calm in emergency situations and maximise their chances of survival until rescued. Successful completion is mandatory for all seafarers prior to joining a vessel.
