Short description
The Course for Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW) is designed to prepare seafarers for certification under STCW Regulation II/4. This course helps deck ratings gain the skills and knowledge needed to assist officers safely and effectively during navigation watch on board ships. During the training, participants learn about ship steering, lookout duties, bridge communication, navigation lights, and the basic use of bridge equipment. The program combines classroom lessons with practical training on bridge simulators, allowing participants to practice real-life watchkeeping scenarios. By the end of the course, trainees understand how to keep a proper lookout, follow helm orders accurately, and support the bridge team in maintaining safe navigation. Successful candidates become eligible to apply for the RFPNW Certificate of Proficiency, an essential qualification for deck ratings serving on ocean-going vessels.
