Cyber Security Awareness training is designed to help security professionals understand and manage cyber risks affecting ships and shipping operations. With increasing digitalization of navigation systems, ECDIS, AIS, GPS, engine controls, and communication networks, vessels are becoming more vulnerable to cyber threats. This course provides practical knowledge on identifying cyber risks, preventing unauthorized access, protecting critical shipboard systems, and responding to cyber incidents. It covers IMO cyber risk management guidelines, best practices for onboard network security, crew awareness, and reporting procedures. The program strengthens the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) by integrating cyber risk controls, ensuring safer and more secure maritime operations in compliance with international standards.
Cyber Security Awareness training is designed to equip security professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, prevent, and respond to cyber threats affecting ships and shipping operations. As vessels increasingly rely on digital technologies such as ECDIS, AIS, GPS, GMDSS, engine automation systems, and integrated bridge systems, the risk of cyberattacks has grown significantly. Unauthorized access, malware, phishing, ransomware, and system manipulation can disrupt navigation, cargo operations, and vessel safety.
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of maritime cyber risks in line with IMO guidelines on maritime cyber risk management. Participants learn how cyber threats can impact operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems onboard ships and within shore-based offices. The training covers risk assessment, network protection measures, password security, safe use of removable media, incident reporting procedures, and integration of cyber risk management into the Safety Management System (SMS).
Through practical examples and real-world case studies, the program enhances crew awareness and promotes a strong cyber security culture. Upon completion, participants are better prepared to protect critical shipboard systems and ensure secure, compliant, and resilient maritime operations.
