The Hand & Hydraulic Torque & Tension course is designed to provide personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and effectively carry out controlled bolting operations using manual torque wrenches, hydraulic torque tools, and hydraulic bolt tensioning equipment. The course focuses on achieving reliable bolted joint integrity, which is essential for the safe operation of pressure-containing systems, structural connections, and rotating equipment across the oil & gas, offshore, marine, petrochemical, power generation, and heavy engineering industries.

Participants will gain an understanding of the principles of torque and tension, bolt loading, friction, preload, tightening sequences, and the differences between torque-controlled and tension-controlled methods. The training also covers the selection, inspection, calibration, operation, and maintenance of hand and hydraulic torque equipment, along with the safe use of hydraulic pumps, hoses, and accessories.

Practical exercises enable participants to develop confidence in assembling bolted joints, applying the correct tightening procedures, interpreting torque values and pressure charts, and identifying common errors that may lead to joint failure. Emphasis is placed on hazard identification, safe working practices, personal protective equipment (PPE), and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
