Maritime Operations of Self-Elevating Platforms – Jack-Up Barge Training is a specialized offshore training course designed for personnel involved in the safe operation, movement, positioning and management of jack-up barges and self-elevating offshore platforms. The course provides comprehensive knowledge of jack-up barge operations, jacking systems, marine operations, stability, preloading, leg penetration, spudcan operations, elevated conditions, rig moves and emergency procedures.
Participants learn how to safely manage key stages of self-elevating platform operations, from preparation for marine transit and positioning at the worksite to jacking, preloading, elevated operations and preparation for relocation. The course also addresses environmental conditions, weather limitations, seabed and foundation considerations, operational risks, punch-through hazards, leg loading and emergency response.
The training is developed with reference to relevant IMO, ISO, DNV, classification society and offshore industry requirements, including applicable principles of the 2009 MODU Code and ISO 19905-1. Unit-specific operating manuals, safety management systems and approved procedures are also emphasized.
