Course Overview
The person in charge of any installation, MODU, or vessel is responsible for ensuring that anyone appointed as an Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader has received adequate training and relevant experience to enable them to perform their duties efficiently and safely. This would include such provision for training as might be required both ashore and at the workplace. While the onshore training sets up a sound theoretical base, workplace training is required to enable practical application and tuning to specific contexts of operation. It is left to the in-charge person to provide enough opportunities for hands-on practice in somewhat realistic exposure to actual emergency situations.
Competence
assessments should be carried out regularly to confirm the preparedness of
OERTLs. He is responsible for managing the training processes, and competence
evaluations, and developing the highest possible level of preparedness for
emergency responses to protect personnel and assets in offshore environments.
