Course overview

The Stage 4 competence reassessment verifies if the candidate meets the competency standards for the Rigger role and maintains the required competency for the Banksman & Slinger role. Our training program is designed to provide participants with the essential skills and expertise needed to perform intricate rigging, slinging, and banksman duties in challenging offshore environments.

What will I learn?

1. Plan, prepare, lift and move loads
2. Lifting, moving, lowering and landing of a load
B. Banksman & Slinger
1. Direct and control the movement and placing of loads
2. Implementing the load-moving procedures effectively from the competent person’s lifting plan and risk assessment

Requirements

Successfully completed Rigger, Slinger & Banksman Stage 3 (RSB 3) or an equivalent recognized qualification.
Submit a completed Stage 4 Logbook (or workplace evidence, if applicable) demonstrating the required supervised experience.
Have substantial practical experience in offshore or industrial rigging, slinging, banksman duties, and lifting operations.
Be medically fit to perform rigging and lifting activities.
Basic understanding of written and spoken English to follow training instructions and assessments.
Demonstrate competency in: Planning and supervising lifting operations.
Selecting and inspecting lifting gear and accessories.
Conducting pre-lift risk assessments and toolbox talks.
Applying advanced rigging techniques and load control methods.
Directing crane movements using standard hand signals and communication methods.
Identifying lifting hazards and implementing control measures.
Be familiar with the requirements of API RP 2D – Operation and Maintenance of Offshore Cranes and safe lifting practices in the offshore oil and gas industry.
