The Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF) course is an intensive training program designed for offshore workers, seafarers, industrial fire wardens, supervisors, and emergency response personnel who may be required to take command and control of fire emergencies. The course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to organize, lead, and manage firefighting operations in high-risk offshore, maritime, and industrial environments.
The training is based on the requirements of IMO STCW Code Table A-VI/3 and IMO Model Course 2.03 and incorporates relevant principles from OSHA 29 CFR 1910.156 concerning workplace fire brigades and emergency response. Participants develop a thorough understanding of fire prevention, fire behavior, risk assessment, incident command, emergency planning, and effective deployment of firefighting resources.
The course includes both theoretical instruction and realistic practical exercises covering leadership during fire incidents, coordination of firefighting teams, communication during emergencies, use of fixed and portable firefighting systems, breathing apparatus operations, search and rescue techniques, casualty management, and post-fire investigation procedures. Special emphasis is placed on decision-making under pressure, maintaining personnel safety, and minimizing damage to life, property, and the environment.
Upon successful completion, participants will be capable of assuming leadership roles during fire emergencies, directing firefighting teams, coordinating emergency response activities, and ensuring compliance with recognized international maritime and industrial firefighting standards.
