Subsurface reservoirs can contain water, oil, and gas in different proportions, with the formation water often containing naturally occurringradioactive materials such as Barium, Strontium, and Radium.
When injected with water during exploration, these materials can result in the formation of NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) or LSA (Low Specific Activity) Scale, which can be deposited in the form of scale, sand, wax, or sludge. NORM may also be present in produced water, condensates, and natural gas.
The NORM
course is a one-day program that provides a basic understanding of how to work
safely and efficiently while handling oil and gas production equipment that may
