The Rigging & Lifting Supervisor Course is aimed at providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to prepare and to tie the load for safe lifting by any form of lifting equipment, using correct and clear signals to guide the crane operator in the maneuvering of a load safely to its destination.
This course in line with Workplace Safety and Health (Operation of Cranes) Regulations for individuals who are assigned to carry out the lifting operation of load involving a mobile crane or tower crane.
What will I learn?
- 1. Identify potential hazards associated with the lifting operation, control measures to address the identified hazards
- 2. Plan the route for lifting and moving the load to minimize any risk to personnel and surroundings
- 3. Ensure the load is accurately assessed for approximate weight, incorporating an adequate safety factor
- 4. Communicate, discuss and ensure understanding of the prepared lifting plan and risk assessment with the team
- 5. Inform the relevant personnel of the lifting operation and identify any potential disruption to operations
- 6. Obtain the resources identified in the lifting plan required to move the load, following relevant rigging lifting procedures
- 7. Determine the center of gravity of a load that has an offset center of gravity / Ensure appropriate barriers are installed at appropriate areas.
- 8. Install and position the lifting equipment for balanced weight distribution
- 9. Confirm the load security before raising to the minimum height required for moving
- 10.Maintain load security and stability throughout transportation of the load
- 11. Comply with relevant health and safety legislation and guidelines at all times
- 12. The capabilities and limitations of lifting equipment and lifting accessories
- 13. Identify and report defective lifting equipment, lifting accessories and associated materials
- 14. Post-use inspections on lifting equipment and lifting accessories
