Surface Preparation and Paint Technology

Surface Preparation and Paint Technology training is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of preparing surfaces and applying protective coatings in industrial environments. The course begins with an understanding of surface contaminants, including rust, oil, grease, and old coatings, and the impact they have on coating performance. Participants learn various surface preparation methods such as manual and power tool cleaning, abrasive blasting, and chemical cleaning, along with relevant standards like ISO and SSPC.

The training also covers different types of paints and coatings, including primers, intermediates, and topcoats, with a focus on their composition, properties, and selection based on environmental conditions. Delegates gain insight into paint technologies such as epoxy, polyurethane, and zinc-rich coatings, and their specific industrial applications. Emphasis is placed on proper mixing, application techniques (brush, roller, spray), and achieving the required film thickness.

Inspection and quality control form a key part of the program, where participants are introduced to tools and techniques for measuring surface profile, cleanliness, and coating thickness. Safety practices, environmental considerations, and industry best practices are also highlighted throughout the course.
